What do I know about Motion ?

When we first started this unit, I had a little piece of information about motion, But when the chapter was over, I had gained much more information than I did before. All what I knew before we started discussing in class what is motion, I thought that motion is the action of movement. but I turned to be wrong.

Now, after we did an experiment and a mind map about motion, I can go into further details about motion. Now, I can briefly explain what's motion and what happens when it occurs.  An object is in motion if Its distance is changing between it and the reference point, and for more details, A reference point is a place or an object that determines if something is moving or not. You can be moving and not moving in the same time. If you're sitting on a chair, and your reference point is the sun, then you are moving with the speed of 30km/s because that is how fast the whole plant rotates around the sun. But if your reference point is your desk or the floor, you aren't moving because the distance between you and the floor or the desk is not changing. To measure motion scientists all around the world use the International System of Units or in French Systeme International. If you have the distance that was covered and the time then you can calculate the speed of an object and the formula of speed is distance / time. If you have the direction in which the object is moving in, then you can know the velocity of an object.

In this chapter, we also had established the concept of the theory of Plate Tectonics. We were taught how to know if a content is moving or not with a reference to the Equator, an imaginary line that divides Earth into two equal halves the northern and the southern hemisphere. The theory states that the Lithosphere ,outermost layer of the Earth, is moving due to the materials that are being heated near the core and raised to the top of the Lithosphere, and pushes the land to the side which causes it's movement. A content can be accelerating which means it's either increasing the speed, decreaseing the speed or changing the direction of it's motion.
